Timeline: Feasibility, Enrollment, & Attendance Area Realignment
-
Spring 2022
The first post-COVID enrollment projections were presented to the board at the Febrary 2022 Buildings and Grounds Committee meeting. While enrollment was still projected to increase, modeling based on residential construction and economic growth forecasts as well as indicators from other areas of the country indicated that the growth would not be nearly as significant as what was predicted in 2020. Some minor changes to attendance areas will likely be needed, but no significant realignment is expected. The Board is currently working on a longer term facilities plan to address the remaining needs of the earlier feasibility study and additional work to identify areas needed for facility improvement.
Fall 2021
Enrollment numbers in the fall of 2021 rebounded to pre-COVID levels but there was still considerable uncertainty over future enrollment growth. No changes to attendance areas were planned until a more reliable enrollment model could be provided by the consultants at Decision Insite. The Maintenance Department began working on plans to spend federal ESSER grant dollars on projects identified in the feasibility study that also met the grant's requirements.
Fall 2020
The initial closure and subsequent challenges related to the COVID 19 pandemic took precedence over further planning and analysis. Total district enrollment at the start of the 2020-2021 school year declined by almost 200 students. This drop and the uncertainty around future residential construction put all attendance area realignment plans on hold. The Maintenance Department began working with the results of the feasibility study to prioritize projects that needed immediate attention.
Spring 2020
The first public information was shared at the April 8, 2020 board meeting which was held virtually. At the time, information was shared showing significant growth in the district, necessitating the need to realign attendance areas and begin planning for new construction and renovation projects. A feasibility study evaluating current district facilities and systems was also completed.
