  • Synopsis

With an infectiously unforgettable score from 4x Grammy winner, 3x Oscar winner, and musical theatre giant Stephen Schwartz, Pippin tells the story of one young man's extraordinary journey to find his purpose. Schwartz, celebrated for his enduring contributions to musical theatre, also wrote the music and lyrics for the 2024 movie adaptation of Wicked, which brought his iconic Broadway score to a new generation of audiences. His ability to craft compelling, emotionally resonant songs is at the heart of Pippin and has cemented his legacy as one of the most influential composers of our time. Winner of four 2013 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival, this updated, circus-inspired version of Pippin continues to captivate audiences worldwide.

Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh, and the intrigues of political power—going so far as to unseat his father, King Charlemagne the Great. Yet, in the end, Pippin discovers that happiness is not found in grand, extraordinary endeavors but in the unextraordinary moments of everyday life.

Whether performed as a black-box production or as a dazzling, spectacle-driven extravaganza, Pippin’s universal message continues to resonate across generations, inviting audiences to reflect on what truly makes life extraordinary.
